Terms of use

Last updated 14 October 2026

By using VehicleFile you agree to these terms. VehicleFile is operated by Convertix Core.

What the service is

VehicleFile shows MOT history information published by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency. It is an independent service. It is not part of DVSA, DVLA or the UK government and is not endorsed by them.

Accuracy

We show DVSA's record as we receive it, and we work out the mileage chart and the ULEZ estimate from it. We do not guarantee that the record is complete or free of errors, because mistakes made at a test centre stay in the record until DVSA corrects them.

The ULEZ estimate is based only on fuel type and registration date. It is not Transport for London's assessment. Check with TfL before driving in a clean air zone.

Do not rely on VehicleFile alone when buying a vehicle or making a safety decision. Have the vehicle inspected, see the V5C logbook, and use a full history check for finance, write-off and theft records, which MOT data does not include.

Fair use

The service is for individual checks by people. Do not use automated tools to scrape it, overload it, or resell its results. We limit the number of checks per visitor and may block traffic that looks automated.

Source data licence

MOT data contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. The design and text of this website belong to VehicleFile.

Liability

The service is provided free and as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of the information shown. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the law of England and Wales.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
